Click the headings below to learn more about Yoga

The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word YUG meaning 'to join or unite'. Yoga is a complete system that you can integrate and live in your life. It brings balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit and offers practices/tools that enable you to manage effectively that which life presents you with.

Personally Yoga really helped me through a time of great anxiety and depression I experienced 20 years ago and is actually the reason I decided to teach. Yoga continues to support and nourish me now.

Generally Yoga seems to be perceived as a purely physical discipline particularly in the West, perhaps as that is how it was initially introduced. Mostly people start on the physical aspect of Yoga (asanas/postures) as it is undoubtedly wonderful for changing your physical posture, easing low pain, managing stress etc….and as you change/open/unravel on a physical level you may begin to explore other aspects of Yoga such as philosophy, mantra and meditation, (there is even more to explore and experience these are just examples).

For me Yoga is skill in action – the way we approach our physical practice is a metaphor for how we meet life off our mats.

I teach Yoga that incorporates conscious breathing, mindful movement, Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation).

If you have become depressed, stressed, anxious and unable to cope with the daily demands of your life or have become fearful of moving your body through injury and illness then Yoga is perfect for you!

If you are already feeling balanced then regular Yoga I feel is essential maintenance for your mind, body & spirit.

  • 1-1 YOGA

  • MIXED LEVEL YOGA CLASSES

These classes offer you the weekly opportunity to connect to yourself through conscious breathing and mindful movement encouraging a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you. The ‘style’ of practice varies and can be a slow vinyasa flow, energising Kundalini, or rejuvenating Restorative or Yin. I have a theme for the practice and then tune in to the energy present in the room and the practice unfolds from that.
